Welcome back to the channel. Today, we’re talking about something that has the power to change your life—forgiveness.
It’s not always easy, but it’s absolutely essential for freedom and healing. If you've ever struggled with unforgiveness, this message is for you. Stick around because I’ll be sharing some powerful scriptures and practical steps to walk in true freedom!
Why Forgiveness is Important
"Let’s be honest—when someone hurts us, our first instinct isn’t always to forgive. Sometimes, we want justice, revenge, or even just to hold on to the pain. But Jesus calls us to a different path because forgiveness isn’t just about the other person—it’s about your heart, your peace, and your relationship with God."
Bible Reference #1:
Jesus said in Matthew 6:14-15,
"For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."
That’s a powerful truth. Unforgiveness blocks our relationship with God. When we hold onto bitterness, it keeps us in bondage. But forgiveness unlocks the door to freedom and healing.
What Forgiveness is (and What It’s Not)
Now, let’s clear up a common misconception: Forgiving someone doesn’t mean what they did was okay. It doesn’t excuse the pain they caused. Instead, forgiveness is saying, ‘I refuse to let this hurt control me anymore.’ It’s an act of surrender, trusting God to bring justice in His perfect way.
Bible Reference #2:
"Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord." — Romans 12:19
God sees everything. When we forgive, we release the burden to Him. We let go so that we can be free!
How to Forgive (Even When It’s Hard)
Maybe you’re thinking, ‘But you don’t know what they did to me.’ And you’re right. But Jesus does. And guess what? He forgave us while we were still sinners. Forgiveness isn’t about feelings; it’s a choice. Here’s how we can take that step:
Pray for strength – Ask God to help you forgive. Philippians 4:13 says, ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Release the person to God – Say, ‘Lord, I choose to forgive [name]. I release them into Your hands.’ This lifts the burden off your heart.
Bless, don’t curse – Luke 6:27 says, ‘Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.’ When you pray for them, you break the chains of bitterness!
The Ultimate Example: Jesus
One of the most powerful moments of forgiveness in the Bible is Jesus on the cross. He was betrayed, beaten, and crucified—yet He prayed in Luke 23:34, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.’ If Jesus can forgive, so can we!
The Freedom of Forgiveness
Friend, today is your day to let go. To walk in freedom. To release the hurt and trust God with your heart. Forgiveness isn’t a feeling; it’s a choice that leads to healing. Will you take that step today?
